My Why

Music, for me, is about connection, community, and healing. It’s a way to make sense of the world, process the highs and lows of life, and help others feel a little less alone.

I spent years following the “safe” path—corporate jobs, financial security, moving up the ladder—but inside I felt disconnected from who I truly am. The more I pursued that version of “success,” the more I realized I was ignoring the part of myself that needed to create, to express, to connect.

Returning to songwriting and music became my lifeline. Reconnecting with that part of myself has allowed me to process heartbreak, celebrate growth, and create something meaningful that could resonate beyond myself. Music has always been my compass, my therapy, and my voice - it just took me a bit longer to develop the confidence to finally share it with the world.

I’m Lauren Vahdani, and this is my fundraising campaign.

How I Got Here

I began pursuing music seriously in 2019, having never performed for anyone or set foot in a recording studio before. I picked up a guitar for the first time, started vocal lessons, and moved to LA to immerse myself in the music scene, creating the material that would eventually become my debut full-length album A Million Little Heartbreaks. In 2020, I recorded a 5-song EP in Dallas over the course of one week, learning so much about the recording process and about bringing the vision in my head to life. Later, I released one of those songs, Flash in the Pan, as my first single.

After the pandemic, I began performing at singer-songwriter nights and booking paid gigs, eventually playing over 150 shows across California, New York, and Texas. I also formed a duo project for a time, which gave me experience writing and recording collaboratively. But even during that time, I knew I needed to return fully to my solo project to tell my own story. In 2023, I returned to the studio to record the full-length solo album I had envisioned years earlier, selecting 15 songs from that pivotal 2019–2020 period that propelled me forward to my path as a singer songwriter.

In 2024 I began releasing a series of singles and music videos followed by the full 15 song album in March of 2026. Along the way I’ve performed regularly across local LA venues including The Hotel Cafe, Moroccan Lounge, The Echo, Silver Lake Lounge, Desert 5 Spot, as well as dozens of smaller venues up and down the coast of California, Texas, New York, Nashville and beyond dipping into music scenes across the US and even internationally. My music has been featured on radio and independent podcasts, and I was recognized by Rolling Stone UK as one of “5 New Music Artists to Watch in 2025.”

What's Next

I’m really proud of the growth I’ve experienced so far, but I’m just getting started and need your help to keep going! Releasing A Million Little Heartbreaks wasn’t the end of the story - it was just the beginning. The faucet never turned off, and I’ve continued writing through new experiences, life chapters, relationship, heartbreaks and lessons, and I’m more excited than ever about the songs I’m creating. My next project is being produced in partnership with Edgewater Music Group, who are helping make this record a reality and supporting the fundraising effort. They’ve already lined up major-label distribution for the project, so your support helps us record, mix, and master the album at a professional level, and get it into the hands of listeners everywhere.

Recording and releasing music professionally is very expensive, and in the streaming era, labels aren’t exactly lining up to support developing artists. So without the backing of people like you, these songs risk staying trapped in my notes app instead of reaching the people who need them most. If we don’t hit our fundraising goal, all contributions are refunded, but my project goes back to the drawing board.
