Mary Kathryn Labbie: The Sound of My Soul

Campaign Story

My Reason Why

For as long as I can remember, music has been the language of my soul.

I’ve lived through experiences that changed me. I lost my father in a tragic motorcycle accident when I was 15, and I lost a lot of my identity along with him. Since then, I’ve had to rebuild my life while navigating heartbreak, uncertainty, and struggles with mental health.

Through all of it, songwriting and singing have helped me survive, heal, and keep moving forward.

Music gives me a way to transform pain into something meaningful. It allows me to take the darkest parts of my life and turn them into something beautiful that another person might recognize in themselves. When people hear my songs, they are hearing the most honest pieces of who I am.

I’m Mary-Kathryn Labbie, and this is my fundraising campaign.

Up Til Now

For the past four years, I’ve been performing throughout Louisiana at venues like Bailey’s on the Square, Paragon Casino Resort, Fête du Void, Artmosphere, The Library, and Frenchy’s House of Vintage.

One of the biggest opportunities of my career began with a new rendition of Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much.” That project connected me with producer Mr. V, or Victor Font, and eventually led me into a wider community of respected house, soul, and R&B artists.

Through those relationships, I began collaborating with producer and instrumentalist EZEL. Together, we created my EP You & Me, released through Bayacou Records in September 2024. The title track spent two months at number one on Traxsource’s Afro House chart.

That work led to an invitation from dance-music legend Ultra Naté to perform at her Feminine Touch event during Amsterdam Dance Event, where I had the honor of being the featured vocalist.

Those experiences showed me what can happen when the right song reaches the right people. Now, I’m ready to build on that momentum.

The Next Step

I have more than 20 original songs written and waiting to be recorded. So far, I’ve completed four studio recordings, but this next body of work represents the fullest and most authentic version of my voice yet.

To bring it to life properly, I’ve partnered with Edgewater Music Group. We have major-label distribution lined up, which gives this new record an opportunity to reach listeners far beyond the audiences I’ve reached so far.

The Challenge

But creating and releasing independent music at this level is expensive. Recording, production, mixing, mastering, promotion, publicity, visuals, touring, and release costs all add up quickly. I’ve taken this journey as far as I can on my own, and now I’m asking for your help.

Perks

In exchange for your support, I’ve created rewards including early access to the new music, copies of the new record, studio access, private performances, and even the opportunity to be credited as an executive producer.

How You Can Help

If I’m unable to raise these funds, I won’t be able to produce and promote this music the way it deserves. The project could fall short of its potential or fail to move forward at all.

If you believe that pain can become purpose, that darkness can become light, and that honest music can help people feel less alone, I would be grateful for your support.

Thank You!

Thank you for listening. Thank you for believing in me. And thank you for helping me share the sound of my soul with the world.
