My Reason Why

I’ve always experienced music as a kind of alchemy.

You take something you’ve lived through, a memory, a heartbreak, a moment of joy, something you may not even know how to explain, and somehow a song gives it a shape. It turns something deeply personal into something another person can feel and recognize in their own life.

I grew up in a musical family, so music was always there for me. Over time, it became less of an interest and more of a calling. I learned guitar, started writing songs, and eventually built my life around performing and creating music.

What I love most is creating those moments where people genuinely feel something. Connection, recognition, release, joy. The kind of moment that stays with you after the song is over.

I’m Sid Grimes, and this is my fundraising campaign.

Up Til Now

For the past 12 years, live performance has been at the center of my career. I’ve played everything from intimate bars and listening rooms to street festivals and casinos in front of a thousand people, learning along the way how to hold a room, connect with an audience, and let every performance become its own conversation.

I’ve performed at venues including Gruene Hall, The White Horse, The Lonesome Rose, Robert’s Western World in Nashville, The Continental Gallery, and The Elbow Room in Chicago. I also held a two-year residency at Riley’s Tavern and completed a 12-stop Texas dive bar tour in 2022.

Since making Austin home, I’ve worked hard to become part of the music community here. My music has been featured on KOOP Radio, KZSM, and KWVH, and I’ve appeared on programs including How Did I Get Here, Drinking Texas, Sound Byte Productions, and Capsyze. I’ve also been featured by Voyage Austin and Canvas Rebel Austin.

In 2025, I was nominated for a San Marcos Music Award for Best Live Performance, released three singles, and had one of my songs featured in the horror film The Other.

And now, I’m ready to put a lot more of the music I’ve been writing into the world.

The Next Step

I have roughly three records’ worth of original material ready to record, with more songs being written all the time. I’ve partnered with Edgewater Music Group to begin producing that work, and we have major-label distribution lined up to help give this new record the kind of reach and support I’ve been working toward.

The Challenge

But recording and releasing independent music the right way takes real resources. Recording, production, mixing, mastering, promotion, publicity, visuals, touring, and release expenses add up quickly, and that’s why I’m asking for your help.
