Our Why

Songs have always come to us like weather. Some hit hard and loud. Some show up quiet and heavy. But they always show up, and our job is to catch them before they disappear.

That’s really the heart of why we do this. Writing songs is how we process life. It’s how we deal with the mess of being human — the grief, the love, the mistakes, the grace, the fear, the hope. We’re not trying to make music that hides behind polish or cool points. We’re trying to tell the truth.

The Keeping Collapse writes songs for people who’ve been cracked open by life and are trying to rebuild. Dads. Husbands. Men in transition. People who were taught to bury what hurts, but are finally learning how to name it. We believe music can help carry that weight. We believe songs can make people feel seen. And we believe there’s something holy in telling the truth out loud.

We’re The Keeping Collapse, and this is our fundraising campaign.

Up Til Now

We’ve been making music for a long time. Since 1999, we’ve recorded and released four albums, written hundreds of songs, and toured through the Carolinas, Florida, Texas, and Germany. Along the way, we’ve opened for artists like Stavesacre, Underoath, NOFX, and The Nether Hour, and played rooms like The Brewery in Raleigh, Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, The Tea Room in Dallas, The Merry Widow in Mobile, and Axelrad in Houston.

This project also carries a lot of history behind it. Before The Keeping Collapse, there was Fairbanks, a regional grungecore band that ran from 1999 to 2002. In 2025, that record, Three Servants, One Master, was remastered and re-released. On top of that, we’ve collaborated with artists like III6 Society, Ramo Prime, Signet, and Pillar, and in 2025 alone we produced, filmed, and released more than 30 live music videos while maintaining a full show schedule.

The next release is called Father, Father, Teach Us to Pray. This one is especially personal. It was self-recorded from the ground up — vocals, guitar, bass, and drums — because this project has always been hands-on and built from the inside out. And we truly believe it’s some of the strongest work we’ve done.

The Next Step

To bring this record to life the right way, we’ve partnered with Edgewater Music Group. We already have major-label distribution lined up, which gives this release a real chance to reach farther than we could take it on our own.

But making serious moves in music is expensive — especially as independent artists doing this without a machine behind us. Recording, production, mixing, mastering, visuals, marketing, and release costs add up fast. And while we’ve always been willing to do the work ourselves, there comes a point where doing it right takes more than just grit.

That’s where this campaign comes in.
